Ancient Muslims accomplished a lot in math and science. They divided the year into twelve different parts, which is the system we still use today. The months they had were (Muharram, Safar, Rabi' al-awwal, Rabi' al-thani, Jumada al-awwal, Jumada al-athani, Rajab, Sha'aban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhu al-Qi'dah, and Dhu al-hijja) Another thing they did was invent modern day algebra, specifically a persian scholar named Al-khawarizmi. They also made a lot of contributions in astronomy. They gave many stars their names, correctly described the sun's eclipses and proved that the moon effects the ocean tides.
